I've had an interesting week, so I've neglected the blog. I'm sorry.
One of the cooler things that happened to me last week was my first time in Capital Hill. I was way too excited for that. What can I say? I'm a huge nerd.
Anyway, today's post will just be a just-the-links kind of post.
It feels like a do nothing kind of day. Don't worry there's a website for that kind of thing. Do Nothing for 2 Minutes.
Google Reader got a demotion. That saddens a lot of people including me. :'-(
Living Social and Amazon = hearts (and savings). Living Social offered a $20 Amazon gift card for just $10. Apparently, about a million of people (including myself) responded.
Did you know the cops can look through your phone if you don't have a password on it? I didn't either.
Tag you're it. Nike+ allows for a game of tag.
Stealing the line from Mashable: Don't text and walk or everyone will laugh at you. (NOTE: There will be a more in-depth story about this video this week.)
Starbucks is at it again. Not sure where to start: They have the Trenta The 31-ounce goodness that I am more than likely going to enjoy on some occasions. Not only did they roll out a massive coffee size (which is larger than the human stomach), they made a sweet mobile app to complement their Rewards program. Basically, you can buy drinks directly with your phone app's barcode. Don't worry my Droid brethren, we'll be getting an app soon. Dearest, Starbucks, I do love you. (Here's another link about the app.)
Can you pass the social media relations quiz by Bad Pitch Blog? No one in PR wants to end up on this blog (hell, I'm mortified to pitch in a bad way, just on the off chance I somehow get mentioned). Though, I read it to NOT do the things that get put on there - which, I'm sure, is their intention.
PRSA poses the question: should there be a law to shield journalistic sources in the social-media age?
After living in the DC area for all of four months, it's apparent that people around here are nuts when it comes to snow. An inch of snow doesn't require panic. This is coming from a kid who is from a NJ town that doesn't get a lot of snow. Relax, it ain't that bad (besides the DC area hasn't gotten any snow.) Here's a video to lighten up the mood:
RIP Sargent Shriver.
RIP Jack LaLanne.
