About a month ago, I (and a lot of others) posted about the Betty White Facebook fan page that was trying to get her to host SNL. Apparently, it worked.

Betty White is hosting SNL on May 8, and here's a promo of her thanking the Internet.



Congrats Betty White! I'll more than likely be tuning in (or at the very least DVR-ing) this.

I wonder what this'll mean for the future of sketch shows and TV shows? Will public demand automatically mean that someone will get to be on-air?

Hopefully, White's hosting of SNL's ratings will be high. If they are, the internet and TV's dynamic might change - not sure if it's for the better. Imagine if every time a video goes viral, that person (if it's a person) has the possibility to go on TV simply because their video goes viral. That might be the downfall of TV - not that Flavor of Love, Rock of Love (feel better Bret) and The Hills (or INSERT REALITY TV SHOW HERE) are doing anything for the medium. But I digress.
